La'Chris Robinson Jordan
Some stories entertain. Others challenge perspectives, uncover hidden truths, and give a voice to people and communities too often overlooked. For La'Chris Robinson Jordan, storytelling is more than a creative pursuit—it's a powerful vehicle for preserving history, challenging narratives, and inspiring change. A Los Angeles-based award-winning filmmaker, producer, author, playwright, and media strategist, La'Chris has built a remarkable career bringing compelling stories to life across film, television, theater, and literature. Her work explores the complexities of the human experience, often shining a light on history, social justice, and voices that deserve greater recognition. Her acclaimed short film, January 14th, examines the painful realities of racial injustice through the story of a young couple whose anniversary takes an unexpected turn during a police traffic stop. Inspired by true events, the film has received international recognition and numerous festival honors. Her writing accomplishments also include being named one of the “50 Playwrights to Watch” by the Dramatists Guild of America. Beyond filmmaking, La'Chris is the founder and executive producer of The Hidden Histories Collective, a research-driven media platform dedicated to uncovering overlooked historical narratives and bringing forgotten stories into the public conversation. She also founded Diverse CinemaDB, an initiative focused on increasing visibility and opportunities for underrepresented voices in film and television. With a professional background spanning journalism, international public relations, historical research, and entertainment, La'Chris brings a distinctive perspective to the intersection of media, culture, and representation. On The Lifestrong Project, La'Chris joins host AyeCee for an engaging conversation, “Beyond the Spotlight: The Power of Black Storytelling,” exploring the importance of authentic representation, the influence of the stories we tell, and the responsibility of ensuring that Black experiences, achievements, and contributions are neither overlooked nor forgotten. Her journey is a powerful reminder that our stories matter, our voices have value, and sometimes the most meaningful impact comes from having the courage to tell the stories the world needs to hear.
